Metuchen will celebrate the coming of fall with its annual Jazz Fest 3:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Metuchen Borough Hall Plaza on the corner of Main Street and Middlesex Avenue (Route 27) in Metuchen.
The free outdoor concert will feature jazz vocalists Derrick Baker and Larry Heinz accompanied by the Steve Kaplan Occasional Trio. The bill also includes James Dean and his jazz/swing band, the Whiskey Café Groove Cats, featuring the jazz song stylist Carrie Jackson.
The public is invited to bring lawn chairs or simply relax on the bench seating that rings the plaza. In case of rain, the program will move indoors to the Metuchen Senior Center on the corner of New and Center streets.
This free concert is sponsored by the MetuchenArts Council and is funded in part by the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders through the Middlesex County Cultural & Heritage Commission with assistance through a grant provided by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State.
