The theme of the September show at the Art Alliance of Monmouth County is “Refresh.” This month’s show includes premier work from members of the alliance.
The window artist isAsha Johnson. A native of Mobile, Ala., and current north Jersey resident, Johnson teaches pottery at the Monmouth County Creative Arts Center and is an adjunct professor at Montclair State University.
In an artist’s statement on her website, ashajohnson.com, Johnson explains: “Movement is essential to my work … it conveys a message. “I need motion, be it subtle or obvious. I need the line that composes a posture or position, or the plié, to express me and my movement through my work.”
