RUMSON — Congregation B’nai Israel will host a number of community events associated with the upcoming High Holy Days. On Saturday, Sept. 24, at 8 p.m., the congregation’s new spiritual leader, Rabbi Jeff Sultar, will lead a study and discussion group on the question “How good do we need to be?”
Following that session, the synagogue will host a “nosh” and a Selichot service at 9:30 p.m. On Sunday, Sept. 25, at 9:15 a.m., Rabbi Sultar will offer an adult education class titled “Preparing Our Souls for the Days of Awe.” These events are free and open to the public.
On Yom Kippur, Saturday, Oct. 8, at 4:15 p.m., the synagogue will host a community Yizkor service, followed immediately by Mincha/Neilah services. These services will take place in the renovated sanctuary and are also free and open to the public. The services will be enhanced with the singing of Cantor Marla Barugel. Immediately following services, the public is invited to “break fast” with the clergy and congregants. No tickets are required for these services or the breakfast.
