HOLMDEL — Two-term Republican Committeeman Rocco Pascucci has withdrawn his candidacy for the Township Committee in the November municipal election, citing obligations to his medical practice.

According to Marcy McMullen, chairwoman of the Holmdel Republican Party, Pascucci will be replaced on the ballot by Greg Buontempo, currently serving as vice chairman of the township’s Planning Board.

The committee seat held by Mayor Patrick Impreveduto, currently serving his first term, is also up for re-election.

“Rocco has been a passionate advocate for fiscal responsibility and preserving the character of Holmdel. I’m sure I join many others in thanking him for his service to the township,” said McMullen in a Sept. 15 press release.

Buontempo is a branch sales director of national accounts for Sprint.

Impreveduto works as an associate director for the Middle States Association for Schools and Colleges, after retiring from the Secaucus School District in 2010.

Running against Impreveduto and Buontempo on the ballot will be Democratic candidates Brian McFarland and Anish Kumar.

Tony Orsini, acting chairman of the Holmdel Democratic Party, said both candidates would bring business knowledge to the committee.

“They’re both very business-savvy individuals, and we think that lending their talents to the township would help immensely,” Orsini said.

“We can really use that kind of financial acumen as far as increasing the township’s revenue so we don’t have to raise taxes.”

In 2010, McFarland ran for a seat on the Township Committee, receiving 21.28 percent of the vote. He is a sales executive with NetApp.

Kumar is a hedge fund manager.
