POLICE BLOTTER: Sept. 23

   Gregory Hoffman, 21, of Plainsboro, and Kevin Hubbard, 20, of Oak Creek Road, were charged with drug possession at 11:25 p.m. Sept. 2.
   Officer David Berez was on the Lanning Boulevard bicycle path when he saw two individuals on a park bench smoking marijuana. Both were charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams; possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of marijuana after the officer found more marijuana as well as a marijuana pipe, police said.
   Both suspects were released without bail.
   Officers responded to Yorkshire Drive near Devonshire Drive for a report of a fight in progress at 2:16 a.m. Sept. 8.
   They found two individuals running from the area. One of them, Gregory Larson, 33, of Kensington Arms Apartment, was visibly intoxicated, police said.
   A dispute had taken place inside a vehicle in which Mr. Larson was the passenger, and he became irate and kicked out the window of the vehicle, police said.
   He continued to scream obscenities and act in a disruptive manner, police said. He was charged with disorderly conduct and criminal mischief by Officer Lee Platt.
   It was discovered he had a arrest warrant from Bordentown Township, which released him without bail.
   Officers were dispatched to a Winchester Drive residence for a report of an intoxicated male with a handgun at 7:35 a.m. Sept. 8.
   The caller said the weapon had been pointed at her while in the residence, but then suspect fell asleep, police said.
   The suspect was found asleep, and the female complainant pointed out a .38 caliber handgun which she said was the weapon used.
   At this time the suspect, Catalin M. Popeskou, 27, of Winchester Drive, woke up and became combative with officers as he was placed under arrest by Officer Joseph Carabelli, police said.
   It was learned he met the victim in New York City the night before and brought her back to his house where a dispute occurred. The suspect pointed the weapon at the victim and ordered her to sit down, police said.
   Mr. Popeskou was charged unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, terroristic threats, aggravated assault, and throwing bodily fluids at a law enforcement officer.
   He was released after posting $35,000 bail.
   A woman reported she left her vehicle unlocked in the CVS parking lot between 1:51 and 2:06 p.m. Sept. 8, and a cell phone worth approximately $150 was stolen as well as children’s clothing worth approximately $40.
   Officers responded to El Rancho Restaurant for a report of an intoxicated male outside the restaurant who had just broken the storefront window at 12:04 a.m. Sept. 12.
   The man, Marvin Alarcon, 25, of Hooverton place, was identified and charged with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct by Officer Berez.
   He was released without bail. The window was valued at approximately $450.
   Police responded to a Hidden Spring Lane address for a report of a fight at 10: 16 p.m. Sept. 11.
   Upon arrival, they found Denis Healy, 45, the resident, on top of the victim, who had minor injuries to his face. Police said Mr. Healy assaulted the victim during a verbal dispute.
   He was charged with simple assault by Officer Kenneth Azambuja and released without bail.
   The victim was taken to the University Medical Center at Princeton for evaluation of his injuries.
   Carlos Jarrin, 18, of Morrison Avenue, was charged with drug possession at 12:16 p.m. Sept. 11.
   Officer Thomas Meyer saw a black Chevrolet driving on a closed private property on Wycoffs Mill Road and found that the driver, Mr. Jarrin, was in possession of a bag of marijuana and a marijuana pipe, police said.
   He was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drugs in a motor vehicle and released without bail.
   Officers responded to the CVS Pharmacy for a report of a theft in progress at 12:30 a.m. Sept. 11.
   Store personnel reported the suspect, Robert McClain, 43, of Trenton, had reached across the counter and tried to remove cash from the open register drawer.
   The cashier tried to close the drawer, and a brief struggle ensued during which the cashier received a minor cut on her hand, police said.
   Mr. McClain fled from the store but was identified and later charged with robbery and assault, police said.
   Bail was set at $150,000, and Mr. McClain was taken to the Mercer County Detention Center. An accomplice who drove the suspect, Adolph Jordan, 57, of Trenton, also was charged with robbery, and bail was set at $50,000. He also is being held at the Mercer County Detention Center.

   Officers responded to a Dorchester Drive address for a noise complaint at 12:24 a.m. Sept. 11.
   They discovered several underage individuals consuming alcoholic beverages. An adult resident of the house, Corey Meeler, 19, was charged with serving alcohol to underage persons by Officer Wayne Hummel and released without bail.
   Someone reported an unknown houseguest had stolen a wallet containing two credit cards and $80 cash from inside a residence n Hawthorne Lane between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. Sept. 3.
   The incident is under investigation.
   Detective Ryan Mattek saw a 1996 Volkswagen traveling on Route 571 with the driver not wearing his seatbelt at 11:09 a.m. Sept. 9.
   The vehicle was stopped, and the driver gave another person’s name and personal information, police said.
   The driver’s true identity, Thomas Ascolese, 52, of Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, was learned, and the name and information he initially gave was that of a relative, police said.
   Mr. Ascolese had a suspended driver’s license and numerous outstanding warrants, police said.
   He was charged with falsely incriminating another, hindering apprehension, obstructing justice, have a suspended driver’s license and failure to wear a seatbelt.
   He was turned over to the Bayonne Police Department on a warrant.
   Leonardo Rigoberto, 64, of Princeton Arms South 2, was charged with shoplifting at 7:20 p.m. Sept. 9 by Officer Hummel.
   Officers responded to the ShopRite store for a report of a shoplifter who had fled the store. Mr. Rigoberto was located nearby and identified by store personnel, police said.
   He was released without bail.
   Someone reported leaving a vehicle unlocked on Abbington Drive between 2 and 4:30 p.m. Sept 12, and a laptop worth approximately $600 was stolen, police said.
   Officer Meyer saw a black Ford traveling on Twin Rivers Drive with illegally tinted windows at 5:46 p.m. Sept. 11.
   Upon speaking with the driver, Brian P. Moore, 23, of Roosevelt, the officer detected the odor of marijuana, police said. The driver was in possession of a marijuana cigarette, police said.
   He was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, having tinted windows and possession of drugs in a motor vehicle.
   Officer Berez saw an individual in the parking lot of Krauszers, acting suspiciously, police said, at 11:35 p.m. Sept. 13.
   As the officer approached him, the suspect, Brayams Castillo, 23, of Windsor Castle, threw a small item on the ground.
   The item was recovered and discovered to be opium, police said.
   He was charged with possession of opium and being under the influence of drugs.
   Officers were called to Walmart for a report of an employee theft at 6:05 p.m. Sept. 13.
   Store personnel reported the suspect, Lagbeh Tulay, 21, of Hamilton, had been seen removing cash from her register on five occasions prior to this call, resulting in a total theft of $600, police said.
   She was charged with theft by Officer Glen Vega and released without bail.
   Joseph Decillis, 65, of Trenton, was charged with drunken driving at 5:13 p.m. Sept. 13.
   Officer Michael Adelung saw a green Dodge make an illegal U-turn on Route 130 at Hankins Road, police said, and stopped the vehicle.
   Mr. Decillis also was charged with making an illegal U-turn, careless driving and reckless driving and released without bail.
   A man reported he had left his vehicle unlocked on Nettleton Drive between 10 p.m. Sept. 9 and 6 a.m. Sept. 10, and w wallet containing credit cards, personal papers and $586 in cash was stolen, police said.
   Jane M. West, 50, of Swannie Lane, was charged with drunken driving at 11:38 p.m. Sept. 14.
   Officer Berez saw a white Buick traveling on Route 130 and making an illegal right turn on a red light onto Dutch Neck Road, police said.
   The vehicle continued to operate erratically and was stopped on Westfield Road, police said.
   She also was charged with failure to observe a signal, failure to keep right, reckless driving, careless driving and driving with a suspended license.
   Jamine Vaughn, 37, of Raleigh, North Carolina, was charged with shoplifting at 2:50 p.m. Sept. 14.
   Officers responded to the Burlington Coat Factory for a report of a shoplifter who had fled the store. A description of the suspects and the vehicle was broadcast, and while Officer Adelung speaking with store personnel, Cranbury police located and stopped the vehicle on Route 130.
   The stolen merchandise — sweat pants worth $35 — was located. Additionally, a passenger in the vehicle was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant from Union County. Both suspects were arrested.
   Ms. Vaughn was charged and released without bail. The individual with the warrant, Eric Love, 44, of Brooklyn, was turned over to Union County officials.
   Officers responded to an Old York Road address for a report of a residential burglary between 7:15 a.m. and 6:15 p.m. Sept. 15.
   Entry apparently was through a front window, and a large amount of jewelry was stolen — in excess of $10,000, police said.
   The incident is under investigation.
   Someone reported a 2000 Infiniti parked at an Etra Road business had its tires and rims stolen between 4 p.m. Sept. 15 and 7:30 a.m. Sept. 16.
   They were valued at approximately $400 each. The incident is under investigation.
   A 17-year-old male from Windsor Commons was charged with drug possession at 10 p.m. Sept. 16.
   Officer Meyer saw three juveniles standing in the street at the corner of Westfield Road and Winchester Drive. The juveniles, all males, were found to have an odor of burnt marijuana on them, police said.
   The 17-year-old had a bag of marijuana, police said, and was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and released to his parents. The other two juveniles were taken home.
   Wilfredo Perez, 40, of Harrison, New Jersey, was charged with drug possession at 2:47 a.m. Sept. 18.
   Officer Troy McWhorter saw a suspicious 2011 Dodge parked alongside the road on Mercer Street, police said.
   The driver, Mr. Perez, was found to have two bags of marijuana as well as rolling papers in his possession, police said.
   He was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, being under the influence of drugs, drunken driving, reckless driving, careless driving and having drugs in a motor vehicle.
