Suspicious activity results in arrests

JACKSON — Police officers arrested three people and lodged drug charges against them on Sept. 4. During the course of the incident, the officers seized drug paraphernalia and numerous packets that contained a controlled dangerous substance believed to be heroin.

Police said residents called to report suspicious activity taking place near a black Saturn Ion that was parked on Ryan’s Way at about 1 p.m.

Officer Mary Nelson, Officer Jeff Henba and Sgt. John McBride arrived at the scene and spoke with individuals who were near the vehicle. Police said three Jackson residents were subsequently arrested.

Police said Terrence Sumner, 20, of Jackson, was initially arrested on outstanding warrants for driving with a suspended license in Wildwood and for possession of marijuana in Jackson.

Police said a search of Sumner determined he was in possession of 19 packets of a substance believed to be heroin. The packets were found in one of Sumner’s shoes.

Sumner was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, according to police.

Britney Siciliano, 19, of Jackson, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after officers said they found a glass pipe and grinder used to smoke marijuana in her vehicle.

Amanda Carroll, 19, of Jackson, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after officers said they found seven packets of a substance believed to be heroin and a glass pipe that can be used to smoke marijuana.

Carroll and Siciliano were processed and released. Sumner was placed in the Ocean County Jail, Toms River, with his bail set at $25,000.

Heroin “has been a growing concern in Jackson,” police Capt. David Newman said.
