 Used books are being collected by the Friends of the Plumsted Township Library for a book sale in November.  The community is invited to enjoy an old-fashioned family-style turkey dinner at Hope Presbyterian Church’s 108th annual Harvest Home Dinner on Oct. 1. The menu includes turkey, gravy, stuffing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, green beans, carrots, cranberry sauce, cole slaw and homemade pickles, along with choice of desserts. There will be seatings at 4, 5:15 and 6:30 p.m. Take-out will be available. The cost to adults is $12 and children ages 3-12 is $7.  The seventh annual Russian and Slavic Cultural Festival will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Oct. 2 at St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, 200 Alexander Ave., Howell.
