Police investigating burglaries

JACKSON — A string of burglaries that has netted thieves items ranging from personal belongings to an enclosed trailer has Jackson police asking anyone with information about the crimes to come forth and assist in their investigation.

According to information provided by the Jackson Police Department, officers responded to 13 burglary and theft calls from Sept. 1 to Sept. 6. The victims of the crimes reported a total loss of almost $10,000 in stolen property.

On Sept. 1, police responded to four burglary calls. In one of those incidents an individual on Sunnywoods Lane reported that personal belongings had been removed from a car. Police said the missing items were valued at about $750.

Sept. 2 saw more than $4,000 worth of property stolen, according to police. On Whitesville Road, a resident reported that an enclosed trailer was stolen. The trailer was valued at $3,000.

Copper piping valued at more than $500 was reported missing from another Whitesville Road home, police said.

Copper piping can be a pricey building material, costing anywhere from $2.99 to $65.99 per foot, depending on the pipe’s diameter, according to the Internet website plumbingsupply.com.

According to police, items with a total estimated value of about $5,000 were reported stolen from a Hyson Road residence on Sept. 3.

Police officers responded to a call about an attempted burglary on Springbrook Drive. According to information provided by police, the incident did not show any signs that a suspect gained entry to the house.
