HILLSBOROUGH: Library hosts robot, seance, movies

Upcoming programs

   Introduce your children to books and songs at the township library in at least seven programs in the next few weeks.
   Also happening: high school students will bring a prize-winning robot, a psychic will describe a séance and movies will be shown.
   To avoid being shut out, call the library to register for events.
   Intended for adults:
   • Zumba — As long as you’re moving and having fun, there is no wrong way to Zumba – Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.
   • Evening movie — ‘Source Code,” an action thriller starring Jake Gyllenhaal, will be shown Friday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m.
   • Culture of Chinese food — Jeanette Yu will talk about the cultural aspects of Chinese food. Learn about the most popular cuisine, table manners and customs, the proper way to use chopsticks and the symbolism of different foods. Saturday, Oct. 8, at 2 p.m.
   • Monday Morning Moms (for parents and caregivers) — Topic: How Do You Prepare For a House Full of Guests While Caring For Your Baby/Toddler? Monday, Oct. 17, at 10 a.m.
   • Afternoon movie — “Something Borrowed,” a romantic comedy starring Ginnifer Goodwin, Kate Hudson, Colin Egglesfield and John Krasinski, will be shown Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 1:30 p.m.
   • Having a séance – Psychic Marc Sky will go through the complete process of having a séance. Thursday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m.
   Here are programs for youngsters. Registration is required.
   • Science (ages 4-6) — Hands-on science fun as adult and child explore science concepts together. Thursday, Oct. 6, at 10 a.m.
   • Singing babies (newborn to 2) — Start your little one on the road to a lifetime love of music making. Friday, Oct. 7, at 10 a.m.
   • Roboraiders Team 75 demonstration (ages 5 and older) — The RoboRaiders, who are Hillsborough High School’s FIRST Robotics competition team, will bring a robot to the library. Thursday, Oct. 8, at 10 a.m.
   • Stories (ages 4-6) — Help your preschool or kindergarten child get ready to read. The topic for Monday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m. is pumpkins.
   • Picture It: Teen Book Trailer Viewing – Grades 6-12 – To celebrate this year’s theme, ‘Picture It,’ we’ll be viewing book trailers for popular and upcoming teen books – Monday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m.
   • Rhyme Time (newborn to 2) — Join us for nursery rhyme fun. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 10:30 a.m.
   • Toddler Time (ages 2-3) — Introduce the pleasure of stories and songs to your child. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 10 a.m.
   • Early Reader Book Club (grades K-2) — An exciting program for brand-new readers. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 4 p.m.
   • Art Adventures (ages 4-6) — Learn about famous artists and take your own masterpiece home. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 10 a.m.
   • Neshanic Garden Club (grades 2-5) — Join members of the Neshanic Garden Club and create a garden glove scarecrow. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 4 p.m.
   • Math Matters (ages 4-6) — Stop by for stories and activities that will get math brains working. Thursday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m.
   • Lego Club (grades 3-5) — We supply the Legos and you supply the creativity. Thursday, Oct. 20, at 4:30 p.m.
   • Story and Songs (ages 2-6) — An interactive story and musical activities. Friday, Oct. 21, at 10 a.m.
   • Music to Move By (ages 2-6) – Introduce your child to music and movement in this interactive program – Saturday, Oct. 22, at 10 a.m.
   • Magic, Myth and Monsters (ages 5 and older) – Join us for a fun special event –Saturday, Oct. 22, at 3 p.m.
