The East Brunswick Museum Corporation will host its annual Candlelight Tours Oct. 15 and 16 at the Historic Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Old Bridge Turnpike and Gunia Street, East Brunswick. Tours will be ongoing every 15 minutes, 5-8:30 p.m.
Costumed re-enactors in historic dress will participate over the two nights, with displays and a narrative depicting the “village resident” they represent. In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, residents who lived in the village and surrounding area during that era will be featured.
More than 500 luminaries (lights) will be placed to outline the walking path for the self-guided tour. Refreshments will be available at the end of the walk. The museum will be open during evening tours.
Admission is $8 for adults, $2 for youngsters under age 12, and may be paid at the gate. Parking will be available at the event site.
Visitors are encouraged to bring their own flashlight for safety while walking the grounds. The event is open to the general public; tours are not appropriate for individuals who have walking problems or for children in strollers.
