JACKSON — The community is welcome to attend an open house on Oct. 22 from 9-11 a.m. to celebrate “Make a Difference Day” with the volunteers at the Jackson Women of Today food pantry in the public works building at 10 Don Connor Blvd.
Food pantry volunteers will be giving behind-the-scenes tours of the food pantry while accepting donations of nonperishable food, toiletries, or money to help offset the current shortage of supplies, according to a press release.
The Jackson Women of Today food pantry helps more than 100 families, which amounts to more than 300 individuals each month. On average, 10 new families apply for food every month. To meet the needs of these families, the food pantry relies on the generosity of community donations and volunteers, according to the press release.
Administrators in the Jackson School District are asking students to bring in selected donations by grade for the food pantry in order to celebrate “Make a Difference Day.”
The food pantry welcomes pre-arranged food drives. The food pantry always welcomes monetary donations that may be mailed to Jackson Women of Today, Attn: Food Pantry, P.O. Box 1042, Jackson, NJ 08527. For more information, call 732-598- 5997 or send an email to [email protected].
