 Come join the Community Refuge Church in helping the people of Haiti. The church is offering a fundraiser which includes a defensive driving class. The class is certified by the National Safety Council and will lead to a 2-point reduction on a driver’s license as well as a 5-percent insurance discount. The event will be held on Oct. 22 at the Community Refuge Church of Christ, Sobechko Road, Manalapan. The defensive driving class will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the fee is $60 per person.  The Bayshore Companion Dog Club is offering its first CAT (Coursing Aptitude Test) at Bucks Mill Recreation Center in Colts Neck at 9 a.m. Oct. 22. Lure coursing is a way to have fun and cross train dogs. All breeds (pure and/or mixed) are invited to attend.  “Understanding ADHD and Executive Functioning” will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Howell library, 318 Old Tavern Road, Howell. The meeting will address the basics of ADHD from a different perspective. Most recognize that the major symptoms of ADHD are inattention, impulsivity and hyperactivity, but what is not well understood are the symptoms that are caused by poor executive functioning. These include poor organizational skills, poor planning skills, problems with working memory, etc. This event is free and open to the public. Membership in CHADD is encouraged, but not required.
