HILLSBOROUGH: Burglary reported at Duke Farms

Police blotter for week of Oct. 20

    A burglary to an abandoned building on the Duke Farms property was reported.
    The representative believed the burglary occurred sometime after Sept. 30, according to police.
    Perhaps people were trying to steal copper pipes, police said, who couldn’t say if anything was taken.

    Three alleged driving-while-intoxicated incidents were reported:
    • Donald Russel, 40, of Hillsborough was charged with DWI on Oct. 8 after an officer said he observed him allegedly driving a Nissan in an Eves Drive parking lot without his vehicle headlights switched on.
    Mr. Russel allegedly registered 0.11 percent blood alcohol in a breath analysis. He was released after also being charged with careless driving and driving an uninspected vehicle.
    • Kevin Akers Jr., 26, of Dayton was charged with DWI after allegedly being involved in a one-vehicle crash on Sunnymead Road on Oct. 8.
    Mr. Akers Jr. allegedly registered breath test results of 0.22 percent blood alcohol. He was released after also being charged with driving an uninspected and uninsured vehicle, failing to stop, leaving the scene of an accident and failing to report an accident.
    Jose Caraballo, 23, of North Brunswick, was charged with DWI after allegedly becoming in a one-vehicle crash on River Road on Oct. 5. Mr. Caraballo allegedly obtained breath test results of 0.15 percent blood alcohol on a breath analysis. He was released after also being charged with careless driving, driving on a suspended license and driving an unregistered vehicle.

    Two residential burglaries were reported and detectives are being investigated:
    • On Oct. 5 on a Homestead Road burglary that occurred sometime after Oct. 4. Police said $620 worth of jewelry was reported missing.
    • A Harrison Street burglary that occurred during the daytime on Sept. 30. Police didn’t know immediately if anything was stolen.
