Hillsborough Middle School will host a program Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 7 to 8 p.m. as part of the district’s efforts to promote safe schools and communities. The program, entitled “Rachel’s Challenge,” is the story of courage and hope of Rachel Scott, the first person killed in the 1999Columbine High School tragedy.
“Rachel’s Challenge” combines both taped and live segments. There will be time following the presentation there will be a question-and-
answer session. The presentation focuses on the life of Rachel Scott, her inspirational story and her simple challenge to treat others with kindness and compassion. The program challenges all attendees to live life free of prejudice, with goals and purpose, and with kindness, compassion and determination.
The program is free and open to all parents, students and community members. The material discussed is suitable for students in 7th grade and above when accompanied by a parent.
Middle School students will attend a “Rachel’s Challenge” student assembly during the day on Tuesday.
