Middlesex County College is offering a special seven-week session starting Oct. 24.
“For several years now, we’ve had a pilot program in which students take two seven-week courses in Western Civilization I and II,” said Aretha Watson, director of admission and assistant dean of enrollment and student support services. “The class meets six hours a week rather than three, and it was very successful. It also allows students taking our Student Success courses to finish them quicker and go into the general education program. The idea behind this seven-week program is based on the idea that some students do better if they immerse themselves in only one or two subject areas.”
While the program is aimed at students who started in September, it is also available to those who are looking to start college now.
Classes include Introduction to Education, History of Western Civilization, U.S. National Government, Introductory Psychology, Child Psychology, Financial Accounting, Business Organization and Management, and Principal of Economics I.
