Two residents charged with DWI

JACKSON — Apair of minor motor vehicle accidents resulted in charges being filed against two Jackson residents. No injuries were reported in either accident.

On Sept. 28 at 9:45 a.m., police officers responded to an accident on Bennetts Mills Road. Police said Herbert A. Booth, 31, of Jackson, was arrested at the scene and transported to headquarters after being administered a field sobriety test.

Booth was charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to breath testing and reckless driving. His 1990 Toyota was impounded. Booth was released to a family member.

At 6 p.m. Oct. 3, Officer James Reynolds responded to an accident at an exit from Brook Plaza on South New Prospect Road.

According to police, witnesses reported seeing a woman they believed was inebriated getting into a white Toyota and attempting to leave the plaza. By the time Reynolds arrived, that woman had been involved in a minor accident with another vehicle.

In addition to being involved in the accident near the exit, police said the woman in question backed into Reynolds’ police cruiser as he was getting out of his vehicle to approach her. That accident caused minor damage to both vehicles.

Police identified the female driver as Lisa Tozzi, 51, of Jackson. Field sobriety tests were administered by Reynolds and Officer William Simon. Tozzi was subsequently charged with careless driving, reckless driving and driving while intoxicated.
