The Strand Center for theArts, Lakewood, will present “The Rocky Horror Show” at 8 p.m. Oct 29. Inhibitions should be left at the door for this deliberately kitschy rock ‘n’ roll sci-fi musical where the audience is encouraged to join in on the fun. Attendees must be age 16 and over.
Director Billy Mitchell has shown in the past that he can relate to an audience and create something different and interesting, all at the same time, as he has done with “Rocky Horror.” Originally produced in February to sell-out crowds in Hoboken, Frank-n-furter and his band of freaks have been brought back just in time for Halloween.
Traditional audience participation (throwing of paper, rice, etc.) will not be permitted during the show, although spontaneous vocal participation (yelling of lines at appropriate times) is permitted. Tickets are $21. To reserve, go to www.strand.org or call 732-730-5925. The box office is open on Thursday and Friday, noon and 5 p.m. and three hours prior to each show.
