Premier Pain Centers, with offices in Shrewsbury, Manalapan, Brick Township and East Brunswick, recently welcomed Sean Li, M.D., to its medical practice. Dr. Li provides specialties in the diagnosis and treatment of patients who suffer from chronic neck and back pain, neuropathic pain, and cancer pain, using medical and interventional modalities.

The doctor earned his medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He trained in general surgery at the Mayo Clinic and completed his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Michigan. He was awarded the Resident/ Fellow of the Year Award by the American Association of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine in 2011.

The Training Studio, 479 Route 79, Unit B5, Morganville, recently launched a challenge to studio members as well as the public to follow a workout and nutrition plan for eight weeks that will enable them to drop two jeans sizes in eight weeks.

At a free seminar held on Oct. 6, Mike Hanley, owner of The Training Studio and a fitness coach for 15 years, explained that working out and eating healthy are what it takes to have a lean, healthy body and he gave advice on how to make the changes in lifestyle necessary to achieve it.

To date, all of the participants in the “RockYour Jeans Challenge” have brought in the pair of jeans they want to fit into in eight weeks and have had their measurements taken. Everyone has committed to come in for four workout sessions per week and an accountability meeting once a week to discuss their nutrition and any other issues they may have during the eight weeks. The Monmouth-Ocean Chapter of New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners will host its 13th annual HolidayAuction from 6-9 p.m. Nov. 17 at Knob Hill Country Club, Manalapan. A portion of the auction proceeds will help fund the chapter’s Donna Myers Entrepreneurial Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to an active college student with a focus on becoming a business owner.

The holiday auction will include a silent auction, door prizes, grab bags, a live auction and a 50/50 raffle. Tickets are $45 each and include a buffet dinner and dessert display. A free to the public Business to Consumer Expo will be held on Nov. 7 from 4- 8 p.m. The event is hosted by CentraState Healthcare System and will be held in the Liberty Way Corridor, adjacent to the CentraState Fitness and Wellness Center, 901 W. Main St., Freehold Township.

The expo will showcase a variety of businesses offering a range of products, services and free giveaways. There will be Zumba demonstrations at 4:30 and 6:15 p.m. provided by the Fitness and Wellness Center, a DJ, and social media workshops. There are two workshop sessions: 5:15 and 7:15 p.m.

The Health Awareness Center will provide a CPR demonstration, blood pressure and body fat screenings, and information about nutrition, diabetes and smoking cessation. Flu shots are available for $20.

CentraState Healthcare System, Freehold Township, has received a three-year recertification of its cardiac rehabilitation program by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). CentraState was recognized for its commitment to improving the quality of life by enhancing standards of patient care. Cardiovascular rehabilitation programs are designed to help people with cardiovascular problems, including heart attack and heart failure, or following heart surgery and interventional procedures such as stenting or angioplasty recover faster and improve their quality of life. CentraState’s cardiac rehabilitation program provides exercise, education, counseling and support for patients and their families. The cardiac rehab team is led by a board-certified cardiologist and includes registered nurses with coronary care backgrounds and training in cardiac rehabilitation.
