MCCC’s Chorus and Jazz Band Present Winter Concerts

West Windsor, NJ:  Mercer County Community College (MCCC) cordially invites the community to two free winter concerts in December. The college’s Chorus and Jazz Band will perform at Kelsey Theatre, located on the West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. Admission is free. For more information, contact the Music Department during business hours at (609) 570-3735.
The MCCC Chorus, directed by Pamela Sharples, will perform a wide variety of choral music on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. The chorus consists of music majors and students from across the campus who enjoy ensemble singing. The program will include a range of a cappella music including Benjamin Britten’s Hodie from Ceremony of Carols, Down to the River by female singers, Silhouettes by male singers, and intriguing arrangements of seasonal music such as Deck the Halls in 7/8 time. The program will include vocal solos by several music majors.
Directed by Professor James Kelly, the MCCC Jazz Band will present a varied and exciting show on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 8 p.m. The repertoire will include works by Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and Chick Corea. All selections will featurestandout improvisations by jazz students, who will be performing in small groups as well as in the full band.
