Mr. Pitts, 49, of Freehold, died Oct. 31, 2011, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was employed as a cooking instructor for the state of New Jersey for 30 years at the Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital and later at New Lisbon Developmental Center, New Lisbon. He was predeceased by a brother, Vincent Pitts, in 2002. Surviving are a daughter, Chantay Pitts; a stepson, Ahmad Wilkins; his parents, Jesse and Ceola Bonner Pitts; two brothers, Nathan and McKenzie Pitts; two sisters, Rose Marie Calhoun and Aldertha Pitts; a stepson, Jason Lawrence; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the New Hope Baptist Church, Freehold, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township. Arrangements were by the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold.
