MATAWAN — Matawan PBA Local 179 has a tradition of helping to make the holiday season brighter for disadvantaged families. This year, the economy continues to affect area families and the Matawan PBA is expecting more requests for assistance.
This is the 11th year that the Matawan PBA is hold its annual Holiday Toy/Food Drive. Through Dec. 19, area residents are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys for children ages 2 to 12 to any of the following locations: Matawan Borough Police Headquarters, 150 Main St., Matawan; ShopRite, 318 Lloyd Road, Aberdeen; Quick Check, 58 Main St., Matawan Freehold Buick GMC, Route 9, Freehold; Matawan Municipal Community Center, 201 Broad St. Panther Press, 37 Lower Main St., Matawan.
“Over the past 10 years, the Matawan PBA Local 179 has collected thousands of toys and clothes for local children, as well as food for families less fortunate,” said Officer Jeff Bodner, who is once again organizing this year’s effort with the help of other department personnel as well as local resident volunteers.
“We know that the current economy has impacted many more people than ever before. The Matawan PBA, with your help and donations, hopes to assist and lend a hand to those in need in our community, so that they can have a better holiday,” Bodner said in a press release.
