‘Rock & Roll Art Show’ comes to mall

The “New Jersey Rock & Roll Art Show” will come to Freehold Raceway Mall, Freehold Township, Dec. 2-4. The exhibit will take place during mall hours on the second level in the Red Horse Gallery/Arc Resources near Sears. Admission to the exhibit is free.

All works are available to purchase, with a portion of the proceeds going to The Arc of Monmouth, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

The “New Jersey Rock & Roll Art Show” will showcase a collection of works and photographs featuring New Jersey musicians such as Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Tico Torres, Sebastian Bach, Frank Sinatra, Debbie Harry and classic New Jersey photographers such as Mark Weiss, Tom Collins and John T. Comerford III, as well as photographs taken at legendary New Jersey venues. In addition, the “New Jersey Rock & Roll Art Show” will feature art and photographs from musicians who have played in New Jersey in the past, including Paul Mc- Cartney, Jerry Garcia, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Carlos Santana, the Doors, Tony Bennett, Jon Anderson, Ringo Starr, U2, JohnMellencamp, Micky Dolenz, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Johnny Cash and more.

The exhibit will also feature handwritten song lyrics, album cover artwork, gold records, concert tour posters, Beatles cartoon drawings and more.

One of the many highlights of the show is a collection of rock photographs by New Jersey photographer Mark Weiss. Weiss, a native of the Red Bank area, was the staff photographer for Circus magazine in the 1970s and 1980s. In addition, Weiss has photographed album covers for Bon Jovi, including “Slippery When Wet,” Poison, Cinderella, Steve Van Zandt, Twisted Sister, Ozzy Osbourne and many more. In addition, Weiss has been tour photographer for countless bands, including Guns N’ Roses, Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Aerosmith.

TheArc of Monmouth serves more than 1,400 individuals with intellectual disabilites and their families through self-directed services, individual support, promotion of self-advocacy, education, vocational training, residential services, health care, supported employment, recreation, and social services.
