The Raconteur, the Forum Theatre, and the Metuchen Arts Council will present an evening with filmmaker John Sayles 7:30 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Forum Theatre, 314 Main St., Metuchen.
Sayles, an Oscar nominee and MacArthur fellow, will screen and discusses his 17th feature film, the historic war drama “Amigo,” starring Chris Cooper and Filipino actor Joel Torre, as well as read from his new novel, “A Moment in the Sun.” Sayles will also participate in an on-stage discussion with the audience.
Sayles burst on to the film scene in 1980 when he wrote and directed the muchpraised social comedy “Return of the Secaucus 7.” His later works include “The Brother FromAnother Planet,” “Lone Star,” “Passion Fish,” “Eight Men Out,” “The Secret of Roan Inish” and “Matewan.”
Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at The Raconteur, 431 Main St., Metuchen.
There will also be a special pre-event reception with Sayles 6-7 p.m. at The Raconteur for an added $10, payable at the door, and includes complimentary wine.
