Mrs. Herbst, 85, of Sayreville, formerly of South River, died Dec. 4, 2011, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a seamstress with Brodsky and Sons, South River. She was predeceased by her husband, John A. Herbst; three sisters, Catherine Wnek, Beatrice Dockiewicz and Stella Chadwick; and two brothers, Joseph and Stanley Surman. Surviving are two children, Diane F. Murray, and her husband, Richard, and John E. Herbst, and his wife, Joan, of Cream Ridge; and three grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Sayreville. Arrangements were under the direction of Maliszewski Memorial Home, also Sayreville.
