Embrace Kids Foundation provides Winter Wonderland for patients, families

NEW BRUNSWICK — The annual Embrace Kids Foundation Holiday Event provided some much-needed joy and relaxation for patients and their families.

Held on Dec. 17 at the atrium of RobertWood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, the event included a catered lunch, live entertainment, a Build-A-Bear station, cookie decorating and video games.

More than 500 people attended the holiday party, including 200 child patients and their siblings, each of them receiving a DVD and $25 gift card to Toys “R” Us.

Embrace Kids Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, helps families with children who have cancer, sickle cell disease or other blood disorders. The foundation is committed to enhancing the quality of life of the children and to relieving families of the emotional and financial pressures of caring for a child with a serious illness.

There are various free programs and services for patients and their families, including an education program, emergency financial assistance, inspiration events, social services and counseling.

The foundation supports the nonmedical needs of children and their families at The Cancer Institute of New Jersey and at the Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, both located on the Robert Wood Johnson medical campus in New Brunswick.
