Two family-owned real estate brokerages have recently merged. NT Callaway and Henderson Sotheby’s International Realty have become Callaway Henderson Sotheby’s International Realty, with five offices covering much of Central Jersey. The new firm, with more than 200 agents, will keep principles from both firms, each with deep roots in Princeton and Central Jersey. What housing slump?
2011 was a banner year at Gloria Zastko Realtors-North Brunswick. Gloria Zastko and Andrew Zastko, co-owners, recently announced that its top producing agents sold and closed in excess of 300 transactions in 2011. Chamber installs new chairman
On Tuesday, Jan. 17, the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce officially passed the torch from outgoing Chairman Bob Hillier to incoming Chairman Pat Ryan.
Pat is the chairman of the Hopewell Valley Community Bank, with offices in Hopewell, Princeton, Ewing, Hamilton, Ringoes and a branch opening soon in Flemington.
The Changing of the Guard event was held at the Mercer Oakes in Princeton Junction.

Wassailing anyone?
Terhune Orchards in Lawrence will host a wassailing party with activities, which include singing and dancing and playing of primitive instruments, toasts of hot cider and placing gifts of cider-soaked bread in the tree branches while chanting the lively words of praise and New Year.
Wassailing is an old English tradition where people would gather in the apple orchard and perform rituals to drive away the evil spirits and ensure a successful apple crop next year. Bonfire, marshmallow roasting, farm wagon rides, weather permitting. Live music will be performed all afternoon in the farm market. The festivities are on Sunday, Jan. 29 from 1 to 4 p.m. and are free and open to the public.
Special Olympics
The Special Olympics is coming to Central Jersey in 2014, and the Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce has been doing its part to get the word out. This event is expected to bring 70,000 visitors to the area, staying in hotels, visiting restaurants and shopping.
