In a burst of red and yellow hues, Hillsborough High School’s Winterguard precision marching group evoked the breaking of dawn with flags and subtle wardrobe changes in the debut performance of its 2012 routine Friday night at the high school.
Afterwards, guests young and old joined guard members to try their hand at spinning flags. Guard members provided one-on-one instruction.
The first-ever Hillsborough Novice Winterguard and Bridgewater-Raritan’s Winterguard premiered their show, too.
The debut was the opening performance in a season aimed at refining and perfecting a competition show routine.
The Hillsborough High School Winterguard will host its 12th annual Winterguard Show on Saturday, Jan. 28. The show, featuring 27 guards, begins at 6 p.m. in the high school’s main gym. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for students and seniors. Food will be sold.
The Winterguard appreciates support from the community. Donations can be sent to the Hillsborough Band Parents Association c/o June Blauvelt, 92 Rivendell Road, or by calling 908-369-7778.
