Princeton Borough Mayor Yina Moore or her campaign staff has filed a 20-day post election campaign finance report as of Jan. 18 with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission.
The report was due Nov. 28, 2011, 20 days after election day.
There are financial penalties for not filing reports on time with the commission.
Fines can be $6,800 per transaction, or each contribution and expenditure that is not disclosed, said Joseph Donahue, deputy director at the commission. “You can face a fine either way, whether you are late or don’t file at all,” he said.
The form is in process and should be online on Jan. 20, said Mr. Donahue.
He was unable to disclose the contents of the filing until it is made public. He also could not comment about individual cases in regards to fines.
Fines are listed on the commission website, which is updated twice a month with this information. Fines go through a complaint process before they are assessed.
”If we were going to issue a fine, we have to issue a complaint first,” he said. “We have to list the complaint and let the candidate respond before issuing the fine.”
All complaints are approved by the commission on a bipartisan basis, said Mr. Donahue.
