Monmouth University junior midfielder Ryan Clark (Freehold, Freehold Township) has been named the BigAppleSoccer.com Men’s College Player of the Year. Clark led the Hawks to a share of their unprecedented seventh straight Northeast Conference regular-season championship and their third straight NEC Tournament championship. The Hawks reached the NCAA Tournament second round for the second time in the last three years.
Clark was second on the Hawks in points this season to earn his first Regional All-America selection. A three-time All- NEC First Team selection in as many seasons, the junior dished out a league-high eight assists, while also contributing three goals, including two game-winning tallies, for 14 points. He showed a penchant for the big game, compiling two goals in a comefrom behind victory while playing down a man against Princeton, and also dishing out a season-high three assists in the Hawks’ 4- 0 victory against LIU.
Clark was a standout out at Freehold Township as well. He was the Shore Conference Player of the Year in his senior year when he led the Pats to the Shore Conference Tournament championship.
The Freehold Area Running Club’s 2012 Winter Series began on Jan. 8 with Billy Foster the overall winner. The 15- year-old toured the 5K course run within the boundaries of Michael Tighe Park, Georgia Road, Freehold Township, in 17:48. Close behind in second was Tim Ragan (17:52).
The women’s winner was Kerry Dyke, who tuned in a 19:478. Second place went to Alexa Woltjen (21:08).

FARC’s annual St. Paddy’s 10-Mile and 5K runs will be held on March 25 this year. Those races start and finish at Tighe Park.
