Exhibit in Philadelphia will trace Springsteen’s career

The Morrison Hotel Gallery has announced a special collaboration with the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia as it presents the exhibition “From Asbury Park to the Promised Land: The Life and Music of Bruce Springsteen.”

Never before seen outside of the Rock and RollHall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, this exhibition makes its East Coast debut at the National Constitution Center. The exhibit will feature Springsteen’s guitars, hand-written manuscripts and 1960 Chevrolet Corvette.

“From Darkness to a Dream,” which premiered in October 2010 at the Morrison Hotel Gallery in New York City in conjunction with the release of “The Promise,” includes new and rarely seen photography from Frank Stefanko and Danny Clinch, fellow New Jersey natives, friends, and artistic collaborators of Bruce Springsteen.

On Feb. 15, the National Constitution Center, 525 Arch St., Philadelphia, will hold its largest exhibition launch party ever. Stefanko will be on hand at the premiere and a number of works will be available for purchase.

FromFeb. 17 to Sept. 3, select works will continue to be on display at the National Constitution Center with prints available for order at the gift shop for the visiting public. Stefanko and Clinch were behind the lens of some of the most intimate and iconic portraits of Springsteen, from his 1978 album “Darkness on the Edge of Town” to his 16th studio album released in 2009, “Working on a Dream.” The two music photographers present their photography in one exhibit, “From Darkness to a Dream,” providing a stunning visual narrative of a musical legend.

Explore Springsteen’s career in “From Asbury Park to the Promised Land: The Life and Music of Bruce Springsteen,” the first major exhibition about the American songwriter.

The exhibition takes a comprehensive look at Springsteen’s catalog, from such early bands as Child, the Castiles and Steel Mill, through his work with the E Street Band and as a solo artist.

Visitors will have the opportunity to view several of Springsteen’s guitars, including the Fender Esquire from the cover of “Born to Run,” as well as the outfit he wore on the cover of “Born in the U.S.A.,” numerous handwritten lyric manuscripts, posters and handbills from all phases of his career, and various awards and honors.

In addition, the exhibition features Springsteen’s 1960 Chevrolet Corvette, which he purchased after the success of “Born to Run,” according to a press release.
