List of library programs, issue of Jan. 26
Computer programs return in early February. Part one of an Introduction to Microsoft Word will be held Thursday, Feb. 9, at noon.
Part one of an Introduction to Microsoft Excel 2007 will be held Feb. 9 at 1:30 p.m.
Part two of each lesson will be held the next week at the same hour.
Interested in some family fitness? Parents and children ages 7-10, when accompanied by a caregiver, are invited to Zumba class. Wear comfortable clothing and bring water. Friday, Feb. 10 at 11 a.m.
Upcoming programs intended for adults:
• Mapping Our Town’s Treasures — People may join in to map destinations of interest, including historical sites, green areas, biking corridors and gems of the community. BoroGreen sponsors the program on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 1 p.m. Bring your laptops and iPhones to map with us.
• Monday Morning Moms — Programs for mothers and caregivers are offered at 10 a.m. at the library. The sessions topics of discussion along with recommended resources. New programs will be presented on Jan. 30 and Feb. 6.
• Evening movie — “Moneyball,” starring Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill and Phillip Seymour Hoffman, is the story of Oakland A’s general manager Billy Beane’s successful attempt to put together a baseball club on a budget by employing computer-generated analysis to draft his players. Friday, Feb. 3, at 7 p.m.
Here are programs for youngsters. Registration is required.
• Math Matters (ages 4-6) — Stories and activities will get math brains working. A program on shapes will be held Thursday, Jan. 26, at 10 a.m.
• Lego Buddies (grades 8-12) — Volunteer opportunity for teens! Help provide assistance during our Lego Club programs. You must pre-register for each individual session. Thursday, Jan. 26 at 3:30 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 28, at 2:30 p.m.
• Lego Club (grades 3-5) — If you are into Legos, come and hang out with other Lego-maniacs and have fun building together! Thursday, Jan. 26 at 4 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 28, at 3 p.m.
• Story and Craft (ages 2-6) —Listen to a story and create a polar bear mask to take home. Saturday, Jan. 28, at 10 a.m.
• Stories for 4’s, 5’s & 6’s: Polar Animals – Help your preschooler get ready to read! Enjoy stories together and build language skills. Monday, Jan. 30, at 1 p.m.
• Toddler Time: Forest Animals (ages 2-3) –Introduce the pleasure of books to your child through stories and songs. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 10 a.m.
• Rhyme Time – (ages newborn to 2) – Build Brainpower! Join us for 20 minutes of nursery rhyme fun. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 10:30 a.m.
• Early Reader Book Club (grades K-2) – At each program we discuss the book, do some activities and make a craft. “Mouse Soup” by Arnold Lobel on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 4 p.m.

• Special Storytime (ages 2-6) – It’s a special storytime on shapes and sizes! Saturday, Feb. 4 at 10 a.m.
• First Look Books (grades 6-12) — Want a free book? Get a sneak peek at teen titles before they hit the shelves. Tell us what you think and take one home. Monday, Feb. 6, at 5 p.m.

• Science for 4’s, 5’s & 6’s: Science of Light (ages 4-6) — Kids love science! Join us for stories and hands-on activities as you and your child explore science concepts together. Thursday, Feb. 9, at 10 a.m.
• Afterschool Science (grades kindergarten to 2) — Join us for some hands-on science! Thursday, Feb. 9, at 4 p.m.
• Story and Craft: (ages 2-6) — Listen to a story and create a Valentine’s butterfly craft to take home. Friday, Feb. 10, at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.
• Story and songs (ages 2-6) — Join us for an interactive storytime and musical activities. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 10 a.m.
The Homework Help Center for grades 5-8 is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4-6 p.m.; Tuesday 4-6 and 6:30-8:30 p.m.
