James “Pop” M. Amalfa

Mr. Amalfa, 87, of Freehold, formerly of Farmingdale, died Jan. 18, 2012, of cancer. He was employed as a mechanic for most of his life, retiring in 1999 from Mosaic Trucking, Cliffwood Beach. He was instrumental in forming the Pinelanders Soccer Club in Howell 40 years ago. Mr. Amalfa was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Albert Amalfa; and two sisters, Rose Lefkowich and Julia Ascough. Surviving are his wife, Regina “Sis” Amalfa; three sons, Ronald and his wife, Karen of Farmingdale, John and his wife, Terry of Brick Township, and Michael and his wife, Sharon of Farmingdale; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Nicholas Amalfa and his wife, Kay, of Lakewood. Amemorial gathering was held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township. Interment was private.
