OLD BRIDGE — Christopher Rapaglia, a student at Old Bridge High School, has been selected for the 2012 American High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall.
He will be a part of the Honors Choir as a Tenor 1. Participation in the Honors Orchestra, Honors Band and Honors Choir is limited to the highest rated high school performers from across North America and select international schools.
Christopher auditioned last fall for the Honors Performance Series and was accepted after a review by the Selection Board. According to a press release from the performance program, acceptance to the elite group is a direct result of the talent, dedication and achievements demonstrated in his application and audition recording. Christopher will join other performers from the U.S. and Canada for a performance Feb. 12 at world-famous Carnegie Hall in New York, a venue that marks the pinnacle of musical achievement. Christopher studies music with Steven Updegraff and is a member of the Old Bridge High School Chamber Choir, Concert Choir andMale Choir. Additionally, he is active in the Old Bridge High School drama department, school plays, French Club, International Thespian Society and the Tri-M Music Honor Society.
Finalists will come together in New York City for five days in February to have the opportunity to learn from Jeffery L. Ames, a conductor, composer and educator, and work with other finalists. The 2012 conductors are Ames, Charles Peltz and Jeffrey Grogan. The Feb. 12 performance is available to the public and specially invited representatives from collegiate music programs.
The Honors Performance Series was created to showcase accomplished, individual high school performers by allowing them to study under master conductors and perform in the celebrated venue.
