Mr. Bruno, 79, of Little Silver, died Jan. 2, 2012, at home after a long illness. He was a schoolteacher for the Hazlet Township Board of Education and retired in 1994 after more than 30 years of service. Mr. Bruno served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was predeceased by a sister, Adeline Pinelli. Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Nancy E.; a son, John Van Velthoven and his wife, Laura, of Shrewsbury; three daughters, Susan and her husband, Donald Miller, of Middletown, Diane and her husband, Lawrence Buccheri, of Little Silver, and Debbie Van Velthoven of Tinton Falls; a brother, Anthony Bruno of Hazlet; a sister, Marie Bruno of Keyport; seven grandchildren; and five nieces and a nephew. A funeral service was celebrated at the Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank. Interment followed at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
