Band performs for free on Tuesday
The Gordon James Band, playing jazz, Latin and world beat music, will perform on Tuesday, Feb. 7, from 7-8:30 p.m. The concert is free and the public is invited. Light refreshments will be served.
This program is made possible, in part, by funds from the N.J. State Council on the Arts in the Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment of Arts, and is administered by the Somerset County Cultural and Heritage Commission through the State, County Partnership Local Program.
Tax help for seniors: AARP volunteers will be available to prepare senior citizens’ income tax forms for free at the library by appointment until April 12. The library will only provide the Community Room and the Quiet Room. The hours are between noon to 5 p.m. Make appointments by calling 908-541-5710.
Display case: Alison Tuday’s “Starlight” treasures were featured in January. If you have a hobby or collection that you would like to exhibit in the display case at the entrance to the library, call Barbara Forbes at 908-722-9722.
Chess class: As of Jan. 5, the library has started a chess class in the Quiet Room on Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. The class is open to all ages.
Hungry Readers Book Club: The club meets from noon to 1 p.m. on the second Monday of each month. All are welcome. Call Beverly Ball at 908-722-3057.
Gifts for the library: If you have new books, DVDs and CDs that you no longer need, please consider donating them to the library. In addition, monetary contributions are accepted. Your donations are IRS tax deductible. Due to budget cuts, donations are needed and appreciated. In advance, the library thanks everyone for their generosity.
Books for sale: The library has ongoing book sale of a variety of children’s, juvenile non-fiction, biography, fiction, non-fiction, mystery, science fiction and more. Hardcover books sell for 50 cents, softcover 25 cents or by the bag for $2. VHS tapes are three for $1.
Crochet and Knitting Club Too: The club meets the last Wednesday of the month at 6:15 p.m. in the Community Room. Bring your yarn and needles and join us. All are welcome, whether you are a novice or experienced.
Cost of copies: Due to the cost of ink cartridges, the library Board of Trustees has raised the price of copies, effective Jan. 1. All black-and-white copies are 25 cents per copy. Color copies are 50 cents.
Library hours: General hours are Monday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Tuesday, noon-8 p.m.; Wednesday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.; Thursday, noon-8 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
