MANVILLE: Whitenight boys record pins in recreation wrestling

   Manville Recreation wrestled Somerville on Saturday.
   Tim Whitenight at 50 pounds continued his success of all year. Going into the second period tied at 4-4, Tim reversed his man and got the pin at 1:32 of the period.
   At 77 pounds Gavin Potts remained unbeaten with a hard-fought 5-3 decision. With a reversal towards the end of the first period, Gavin tied the match at 2-2. Starting on top Gavin had a 3-point nearfall to extend the lead to 5-2 after two periods. After a late escape by his opponent, Gavin held his man off for a 5-3 win.
   At 90 pounds Anthony DeSanto used what he had learned in practice to put his man on his back for a pin in 34 seconds. Anthony rolled through a headlock to end the match.
   At heavyweight Dylan Whitenight took his man down and had his pin at 0:26 of the match.
   In some of the other matches, after dominating with a 5-0 lead, Anthony Barra went on to pin at 2:25 of the third period.
   Gavin Potts won his second match of the day with a 5-3 win with a takedown at the end of regulation.
   Alex Starzynski, up 4-1 after a second-period takedown, put his opponent to his back and got a pin with 10 seconds left in the second.
   Ethan Burlew in a hard-fought match was able to turn his man over for the pin at 1:29 of the second.
   Manville wrestles home this week on Saturday at 9 a.m.
