SOUTH BRUNSWICK: Donna Simon sworn into state Assembly

Assemblywoman Donna Simon was sworn in Monday as the newest member of the state General Assembly.
Ms. Simon will represent the 16th Legislative District, which covers municipalities in Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex and Somerset counties.
She fills the seat of Assemblyman Pete Biondi, who died in November. Mr. Biondi, a former Hillsborough mayor, served seven terms.
Ms. Simon joins Sen. Christopher "Kip" Bateman, of Branchburg, and Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli, of Hillsborough, as the district’s other Republican representatives.
Ms. Simon is a former Readington Township committeewoman whose responsibilities included oversight of all municipal departments and serving as a liaison to the township’s Municipal Court and departments of engineering and Public Works.
She was also a member of the Hunterdon County Shared Services Working Group, which focuses on municipal shared services.
"I look forward to working on the important issues facing our state such as job creation, improving our economy and providing tax relief," Ms. Simon said. "Gov. Christie’s policy of fiscal discipline and a government that works on behalf of taxpayers is a successful formula that I fully support."
