POLICE BLOTTER: Week of Feb. 3

Hightstown
   At 11:41 a.m. Jan. 19, officers took custody of Benjamin Prince, 53, of Lakewood, who was being released from Monmouth County Correctional Center, police said. Mr. Prince had outstanding warrants issued by the Hightstown Borough Municipal Court for $1,030 and the East Windsor Township Municipal Court for $506.
   Mr. Prince was transported to the Mercer County Adult Correction Center in lieu of bail.

   Police said officers arrested Ankit Patel, 22, of Edison, and charged him with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, speeding, and failure to exhibit a valid insurance card 2:21 a.m. Jan. 22.
   He was stopped for traveling 44 mph in a 25 mph speed zone. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and had the driver perform field sobriety tests. Police said Mr. Patel failed those tests. At the police station, he submitted breath samples for analysis, which resulted in a reading of 0.07% BAC, police stated.
   Mr. Patel was released to a friend with pending court action.

   On Jan. 22 at 5:13 a.m. on Manlove Avenue, officers arrested Jose Guachisaca, 31, of Manlove Avenue, Hightstown, and charged him with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, hindering apprehension by providing false information, defiant trespassing, and contempt of court. Police said officers responded on a report of an intoxicated man trying to gain entry into a residence. Although, Mr. Guachisaca fled the scene, police found a man who matched his description.
   However, police said, Mr. Guachisaca ran from law enforcement through fenced-in yards and then began to fight with the officers upon being stopped. He was taken into custody at which time he provided a false name, police said. When his true identify was discovered, police learned he had two active warrants issued by the Hightstown Borough Municipal Court for $2,166; bail in this matter was set at $2,000 with 10 percent.
   Mr. Guachisaca was released upon posting bail with pending court action.
East Windsor
   An unnamed complainant reported that a gray 1994 Oldsmobile wagon was stolen overnight from the parking lot of the Bicycle Rack store between 7 p.m. Jan. 24 and 9:52 a.m. Jan. 25, police said. The approximate value of the vehicle was $1,500.
   The incident is under investigation.

   Robert Diamond, 29, of Keansburg, was charged with arson and arrested on Jan. 24 after a lengthy police investigation of a tow truck fire, which occurred mid-morning Aug. 12 on Route 133, according to police.
   Police stated that they discovered suspicious circumstances surrounding the August fire. The investigation, which followed, led to the Hazlet Police Department’s arrest of Mr. Diamond. He was later released after posting $30,000 bail with pending court action.

   Officers responded to Saint James Village for a report of a disorderly person near 3 p.m. Jan. 25. Upon police arrival, they spoke with personnel and learned that Neeve Sepulveda, 50, of Morrisville, Pennsylvania, had been yelling at a resident and striking him with her fists in the parking lot, police stated.
   Officers separated the individuals and after investigating the incident, placed Ms. Sepulveda under arrest for disorderly conduct and harassment. She was later released pending court action.
