TLC Family Chiropractic of Howell will hold its annual Patient Appreciation Day on Feb. 11. The New Jersey State Bar Foundation, New Brunswick, will hold a seminar about navigating through the “Medicare/Medicaid Maze” from 1-3 p.m. Feb. 16. The program will feature an explanation and an update about both programs, and information about planning for long-term care insurance. A workshop about “Estate and Federal Income Tax” will be presented from 7-9 p.m. Feb. 16. Topics of discussion may include recent changes to federal estate tax and New Jersey estate tax, distributions from individual retirement accounts, saving for college, and exclusion of gain on the sale of a principal residence. “Starting and Succeeding With a New Business” will be held from 7-9 p.m. March 7. The goal of the program is to help new entrepreneurs by highlighting the keys to success and trouble spots to avoid. A seminar about “Landlord-Tenant Issues” will be held from 7-9 p.m. March 15. The Jersey Shore Association for Human Resources will focus on tips for effectively recruiting, hiring and retaining military veterans, including workplace strategies for employing military spouses and engaging their families. Sherrill Curtis, who specializes in strategic human resource and business management solutions, will present “Shifting from Advocate to HR Strategy Architect,” a mini-workshop that outlines strategies for using military talent, Feb. 16, at the monthly meeting of the JSAHR, 8-10 a.m., at Jumping Brook Country Club, Neptune. Dr. Manuel T. Banzon, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in total joint replacement, arthroscopy, and fracture and trauma care at Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute in Freehold Township and Monroe Township, performed a new procedure at CentraState Healthcare called subchondroplasty, a minimally invasive surgery for osteoarthritic knee pain caused by chronic bone marrow edema (BME).

The Greater Monmouth Chamber of Commerce has recognized that many agencies have offerings that can greatly benefit the business community, but that the information may not be reaching the business owners. The chamber has assembled resources from local, county, state and federal agencies, aggregated them in one program and is presenting them to the business community in a free “2012 Business Road Show.” The first presentation will be held at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters, SymmesDrive, Manalapan, on Feb. 28 from 5-7:30 p.m.

Presentations will include information about how to obtain grant dollars for hiring unemployed workers, free business coaching and skills training, free mailing list, GPS mapping services and website evaluations, matching dollars for energy improvements and more.
