HILLSBOROUGH: College students share news of accomplishments

    Midshipman Margaret E. Gilroy, a 2010 graduate of Hillsborough High School, has been named to the U.S. Naval Academy Superintendent’s List for the third consecutive semester.
    The Superintendent’s List requires a midshipman to achieve a Semester Quality Point Rating (SQPR) of at least 3.4, an A in Conduct, A in Military Performance/Aptitude, A or B in physical education and A or B in the physical readiness test. Midshipman Gilroy, who is majoring in systems engineering, has maintained an SQPR of 4.0 each semester.

    Belle Mead resident Anne M. Herman was named to the fall semester dean’s list at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn.
    To qualify, a student must be enrolled in at least 16 credit hours of academic work and must achieve a semester grade point average of 3.70 or better.

    Thomas Pepitone, a music education major from Hillsborough, was named to the dean’s list at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia for the fall semester. Students must achieve a grade-point average of 3.6 or higher, and will be recognized at an honors convocation on April 29.

    Erika Yurcisin of Hillsborough earmed the dean’s list for the fall semester in the College of Integrated Science and Technology at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va.

    Alyssa Davidson of Hillsborough has been named to dean’s list for the fall semester at Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, Pa.

    Justin Giarrusso of Hillsborough has been named to the fall semester dean’s list at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.
    To qualify, students must achieve a grade-point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale in all applicable classes.

    Samantha Moravec, a 2011 Hillsborough High School grad now a freshman at Boston University, achieved dean’s list and high honors in the fall semester. She achieved straight A’s (students must achieve at least a 3.75 grade-point average). She was also elected into the national business fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi.

    Kristi Boch of Hillsborough earned the dean’s list for the fall semester at Kutztown (Pa.) University. She is a 2009 Hillsborough High School graduate and is a junior at Kutztown majoring in sociology with a minor is marketing and advertising.

    Emanuel Demaio of Hillsborough, a sophomore majoring in robotics engineering, was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Worcester (Mass.) Polytechnic Institute.
    The criteria differ from most other universities, as WPI does not compute a grade point average. Instead, it defines the dean’s list by the amount of work completed at the A level in courses and projects.
