Jr. Raiders take
sports registrations
   Friday, Feb. 10 — Junior Raider football, cheer and track signups will take place from 6-9 p.m. at the Municipal Building on South Branch Road. Students entering kindergarten to grade 8 in September 2012 are welcome to participate. Also being held on Feb. 24 (6-9 p.m.) and 25 (9 a.m. to noon).
   Participants are required to register at www.jrraiders.org. Payment is accepted in the form of credit card, check or cash. Those paying by cash or check must come in person on Feb. 10, 24 or 25. Anyone needing a jersey (e.g., new tackle player or old one is too small) must come in person and get fitted.
   Families are asked to bring a non-perishable food item in support of the Hillsborough Food Bank.

   Friday, Feb. 10 — The Raritan Knights of Columbus Council 13264 will hold a Valentine’s Day dinner-dance at St. Ann’s School, Raritan. Roast beef dinner begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets at $25 per person available at door. Proceeds from dance and a raffle will support the Knights’ scholarship program.

   Saturday, Feb. 11 — Hillsborough Band collects used clothing, 10 a.m. to noon at front entrance to Hillsborough High School, 466 Raider Blvd. For information, call 908-240-6218.

Gardeners to hear
about orchids’ care
   Thursday, Feb. 23 — The Neshanic Garden Club will hold its regular monthly meeting at 9:45 a.m. at the Station House on Olive Street, Neshanic Station.
   At 11 a.m. Susan Gange, owner/operator of Stony Brook Orchids in Pennington, will demonstrate orchid care, exhibiting and designing. Fish fry buffet

   Friday, March 2 — Hillsborough Fire Company No. 3 will hold its annual fish fry buffet from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Woods Road. Menu includes baked tilapia, fried cod, fried clams, fried shrimp, chicken fingers, pierogies, vegetable medley, French fries, rice, homemade cole slaw, salad, desserts, drinks.
   Tickets will be sold at the door: adults, $11; seniors 60 and older, $10; children 5 to 12, $9; children 4 and under free.
RoboRaiders, library
co-host science fair
   Thursday, March 8 — Team 75 (Hillsborough High School Roboraiders) and the Hillsborough Public Library are co-hosting a science fair from 4-9 p.m. for students in grades 5-8.
   Judges will award prizes. Possible topics include chemistry, ecosystems, electricity, mixtures and solutions, genetics and the environment. You can work on your own, with a partner, or in a group of three. Sign up at the library’s Children’s Desk and tell us what you will demonstrate. Questions?    Thursday, March 22 — The Neshanic Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting at 9:45 a.m. at the Station House, Olive Street, Neshanic Station. At 11 a.m. master gardeners Jerry Hirsch and Marylin Hulme will talk about Branchburg’s community garden and about growing flowers and vegetables in a personal community plot garden.

Comedy Night

   Saturday, March 24 — The Optimist Club sponsors its third annual Comedy Night from 7-10 p.m. at St. Joseph Church, 34 Yorktown Road. Eat, laugh and make a difference; proceeds will go to children with cancer who attend Camp Quality in Blairstown. The night will consist of three comedians. You may bring food and drinks.
