HILLSBOROUGH: Deadline approaches to file for school board election

You might have slightly more than two weeks to file to run for school board this year.
That is, unless the Board of Education should decide Monday night whether to push the school election to the November general ballot for the next four years.
If it doesn’t, candidacy packets for the three vacancies on the township Board of Education are available in the board office in the municipal building. The deadline to submit the nominating petition is 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, for the election on Tuesday, April 17.
It only takes the signatures of 10 registered voters to qualify. A person must have lived in the township for at least one year. You do not have to have a child in the district to run.
The three-year terms of the board president Steve Paget and vice president Marc Rosenberg expire, as does the term of Dana Boguszewski, who was selected to the fill the vacancy left last May when Barbara Sargent resigned to concentrate on her new job as superintendent of the Readington Township school district.
Candidates file a nominating petition with the school business administrator in order to get their name on the ballot.
