An 85-year-old man has been charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact for groping two women — a store clerk and a neighbor — in connection with incidents that occurred Jan. 25 and Jan. 28.
Charles W. Deaton of Ivy Glen Lane knocked on the door of a 61-year-old woman who lives in the neighborhood and handed her some flowers in the Jan. 25 incident, which happened at 3 p.m., said police Lt. Charles B. Edgar.
He then allegedly reached out to hug her and when he released her he touched her again in an inappropriate way, said Lt. Edgar.
Three days later, at 7:05 p.m. on Jan. 28, Mr. Deaton went to the McGrath Pharmacy on Lawrence Road. He allegedly approached an 18-year-old clerk who was working in the gift section and his hand grazed across her body. He then grabbed her and touched her in an inappropriate way, said Lt. Edgar.
