Two Robbinsville Township men were charged with burglary, theft, possession of burglary tools and criminal mischief after allegedly breaking into an abandoned office/warehouse building on Quakerbridge Road at 10:55 p.m. on Jan. 31.
Joseph G. Skurjunis II, 20, and Christian James Nemeth, 20, were charged after police, who were acting on a tip that a burglary was planned for the building, went to the site and found them inside. Police surrounded the building and some officers went inside.
The officers saw the light from flashlights moving around in the building and also heard banging sounds. They said they followed the noise and found the two men inside. They had allegedly entered through a side door.
The men are accused of taking several coils of copper pipes and copper electrical wiring, and an electrical breaker box and wires, worth more than $200.
They also had hand tools, including pliers, wire cutters, pipe cutters, screwdrivers and gloves, in their possession, police said.
They were taken to the Mercer County Corrections Center on $20,000 bail.
