Canal lovers: Towpath stroll set Sunday

Join the Friends of the Delaware Canal on Feb. 12 for a “We Love the Canal” Walk along the towpath from Tinicum Park to the Golden Pheasant Inn in Erwinna. The 2¼-mile roundtrip walk will begin at 2 p.m. in the rear parking area adjacent to the canal in Tinicum Park, 963 River Road, Erwinna.
There are many things to love about the Delaware Canal — its scenery, its history, its wildlife, its quirks — and the stretch of towpath in Erwinna is a perfect place to discover them.
From the waterfowl that live in the widewaters to the intriguing history of the pretty village of Erwinna to Jacob Oberracker’s Tap Room to the Spiderman House, perched above the river, there is much to see and explore.
Following the fresh air and diversion-filled trek, there will be Valentine’s treats for all.
The “We Love the Canal” Walk is free. It will be held weather permitting. If the forecast for questionable, check for a status announcement on the homepage of www.fodc.org or call 215-862-2021 for a recorded message.
