LAMBERTVILLE — Like to laugh hard, over and over?
Like to help youngsters in need and help their families, as well, when you do so? Here’s your chance to do all that at once.
It’s Caring for Kids Comedy night, which will be held from 7-10 p.m. on March 31 at the Lambertville-New Hope Rescue Squad. All proceeds of this fundraiser will go to families having children with cancer and to cancer research.
”Last year, we gave money we raised to two families in Flemington and one in Lambertville,” said Norma Zimmerman, of the organization Ride4Eric/Caring for Kids with Cancer.
A $10,000 donation to St. Jude’s Hospital also was made. Ride4Eric also has given money to Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia and to other organizations that do cancer research.
Ride4Eric is named after Ms. Zimmerman’s son, who had cancer as a young child. “He’s 20 years old now and doing fine,” she said.
Ride4Eric sponsors a variety of fundraising events, including a motorcycle ride. The next one will be held this spring.
Live entertainment at the March 31 event will be provided by Ted Daniels & Company
. “Ted is the headliner,” Ms. Zimmerman said. “He has two other standup comedians who will appear as well. So it should be fun. We’ll have a 50-50 raffle and basket auction, as well.”
Some snacks will be provided at Caring for Kids Comedy Night.
”Everything we’ll have will be donated by area businesses, restaurants and grocery stores,” Ms. Zimmerman said. “So all the money we raise will go to benefit families with a child with cancer and cancer research. One of the reasons we do this is to raise awareness that children do get cancer and they need our help.”
Tables will seat eight people and seats will be pre-assigned.
Guests are welcome to brings snacks of their own.
