EAST WINDSOR — The Township Council set an April date for a stream clean up this spring in conjunction with the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association.
It was determined at Tuesday’s council meeting that the clean up will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on April 28 at Etra Lake Park.
A similar stream clean up event occurred at the park in 2011.
"We had a lot of people participate,” Councilman Peter Yeager said. “We collected a lot of debris and trash.”
"I thought it was a great location,” said East Windsor Mayor Janice Mironov. “It’s safe. We did (have) a lot more participation there.”
The mayor noted that scout groups came out last year to help with the clean up.
"It seems like a good family day to do it,” said Councilman Alan Rosenberg of the Saturday date.
In other news, the Township Council unanimously approved Ordinance 2012-1 to accept the donation of three parcels of land from David Saltman. The parcels are adjacent to the north side of Dutch Neck Road, to the east of Route 130. The properties are designated as block 56; lots three, seven and eight.
The council also unanimously approved Resolution 2012-29 authorizing the interlocal service agreement with West Windsor Township for animal control services.
"They have reviewed and approved the agreement,” Mayor Mironov said of West Windsor.
   "I think it’s a win-win,” said Councilman Marc Lippman.
East Windsor has a similar agreement with Robbinsville.
The council passed Resolution 2012-37 approving the re-certification of the Mercer County HOME Investment Partnerships Program Consortium, which provides housing assistance.
The council also discussed municipal capital budget items. Members asked for more details on some of the mechanical items listed within the budget.
The next Township Council meeting is scheduled to begin 8 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Municipal Building, 16 Lanning Blvd.
