On Jan. 28 at 1:55 a.m. on Franklin Street, officers arrested Garry Vitale, 54, of Paterson, and charged him with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, and failure to maintain lamps, police said.
Mr. Vitale was stopped after repeatedly crossing over the fog line and for having a taillight out, police stated. Upon being stopped the officer detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage, resulting in the subject performing field sobriety tests. Police said Mr. Vitale failed such tests, was taken into custody, and submitted breath samples resulting in a reading of 0.10 percent BAC.
Mr. Vitale was later released with pending court action.
East Windsor
Police said officers responded to Walmart for a reported employee theft, which occurred between noon on Jan. 12 and 1:53 p.m. on Jan. 25.
Store personnel reported that Cierra Hilliard, 21, of Trenton, had stolen cash, in the amount of $190, on four different occasions while working at the register, police said.
Additionally, Ms. Hilliard was found to have two outstanding warrants from Trenton Municipal Court.
Ms. was arrested and charged with theft. Ms. Hilliard was later released when Trenton authorized releasing her on her own recognizance.
Officers responded to Walmart for a report of a customer in the process of shoplifting at 10:19 p.m. on Feb. 4.
Store personnel reported that Robert Bailey, 44, of Lakewood, had been observed cutting items out of the original packaging and placing them in other packages to avoid paying for them, police said. He was located and several items were found in improper packaging totaling $510.53.
Mr. Bailey was arrested and charged with shoplifting and later released pending court action.
An unnamed complainant reported that a range and microwave worth $2,000 were stolen from an unoccupied residence on Endeavor Boulevard between Feb. 5 and Feb. 6, police said. The incident is under investigation.
