CALLING ALL GLEEKS TO HAR SINAI TEMPLE
HOPEWELL TWP. – To television fans, "Glee" is a hit musical series in which the cruel cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester is an easily identifiable villain while Spanish teacher Will Schuester is the high school hero.
At Har Sinai Temple on March 9 at 7 p.m., both characters, along with others from the Emmy- and Golden Globe Award-winning TV show, will morph into principals from the biblical "Book of Esther" as "Haman Sue Sylvester" and "Mordecai Will Schuester" for a Purim Shpiel entertainment for all ages called "A Very Glee Megillah."
An original Purim Spiel written by Norman Roth and directed by Ben Gruder, it will be performed by Har Sinai’s own The Not Quite Ready for Prime Time Players. A Shabbat service will be part of the event.
The reading of the Megillah is the first part of a two-day Purim celebration that will include a full-blown carnival with costumes, food, prizes, fortune telling, sand painting and more on March 11 from 10 a.m. to noon. Both events are open to friends and family. Membership at Har Sinai is not required.
There is no admission to the Sunday carnival in the temple which is located at 2421 Pennington Rd. at Denow Road West. Instead, game tickets will be sold at two for $1 or 15 for $5. Anyone who comes in costume will receive one free game ticket.
The carnival is a chance for both parents and children to dress up in costume and compete for prizes.
