HILLSBOROUGH: Library programs include Oscar songs, presidential dining talk

   The library will host a “Salute to the Great Songs of the Oscars” when pianist Joel Zelnick, with Stan Edwards on vocals, present the best music of the winners and the losers. The program will be in the library’s West Wing Thursday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m.
   The AARP Foundation Tax Aide will offer free income tax form preparation help for older taxpayers and people with limited incomes. Representatives will be at the library from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, on Mondays, March 5, 12, 19, 26, April 2 and 9.
   You can learn about some of the favorite foods and beverages of past presidential families, and how presidents entertained at state dinners and for family and friends. A fee of $5 for refreshments will be asked at the door for this program on Wednesday, Feb. 29, at 6:30 p.m.
   The Somerset County Library System can help job seekers land a new job through NJWorks@YourLibrary. The job search program will be at the library Thursday, March 1, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
   The library will be closed on Monday, Feb. 20.
   Upcoming programs intended for adults. Registration is required:
   • Monday Morning Moms — Programs for mothers and caregivers are offered at 10 a.m. at the library. The topics of discussion come with recommended resources. Session on Feb. 27.
   • Basic Computer Skills — This class will provide a basic introduction to using a computer. Monday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m.
 ’• Evening movie — “J. Edgar,” a Clint Eastwood film about FBI Director Hoover and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Armie Hammer and Naomi Watts, will be shown Friday, March 2, at 7 p.m..

   Teen summer volunteer sign-up begins March 1. Teens entering grades 8-12 in the fall 2012 and looking for a way to earn community service hours can pick up an application to volunteer at the library this summer.
   • Anime Club (grades 8-12) — Hang out with your friends and watch anime, discuss the latest manga and more. Thursday, Feb. 16, at 5 p.m.
   • Math Matters (ages 4-6) — Stories and activities will get math brains working. A program on pairs will be held Thursday, Feb. 16, at 10 a.m.
   • Story and craft (ages 2-6) —Listen to a story and create a polar bear mask to take home. Friday, Feb. 17, at 10 and 11 a.m.
   • Special Storytime (ages 2-6) — “Cool Tools” on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 10 a.m. and Saturday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m.
   • Lego Buddies (grades 8-12) — The library needs teen volunteers to help with the Lego Club program. Youngsters can earn community service hours. Saturday, Feb. 18, at 2:30 p.m. and Thursday, Feb. 23, at 3:30 p.m.
   • Lego Club (grades 3-5) — If you are into Legos, come and hang out with other Lego-maniacs and have fun building together! Saturday, Feb. 18, at 2:30 p.m. and Thursday, Feb. 23, at 3:30 p.m.
   • Toddler Time: Bundle Up! (ages 2-3) — Introduce the pleasure of books to your child in stories, songs and more. Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 10 a.m.
   • Rhyme Time (ages newborn to 2) — Join us for 20 minutes of nursery rhyme fun. Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 10:30 a.m.
   • Learning Adventures (grades K-2) — The topic will be “things that go.” Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 4 p.m.
   • Art Adventures (ages 4-6) — Learn about favorite artists and take home your mosaic magic masterpiece. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 10 a.m.
   • Crafts for 4’s, 5’s and 6’s — Make a monkey door hanger craft with your preschool or kindergarten child. Thursday, Feb. 23, at 10 a.m.
   • Special Storytime (ages 2-6) — It’s a special storytime on cars. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24 and 25, at 10 a.m.
   • Teen book trailer viewing (grades 6-12) — We’ll view book trailers for popular and upcoming teen books. Bring your library card and put some on hold. Friday, Feb. 27, at 6 p.m.
   • Stories for 4’s, 5’s & 6’s — Help your preschool or kindergarten child learn to read! Enjoy stories together and build language skills. “My Five Senses” is topic for Friday, Feb. 27, at 1 p.m.
   • Toddler Time (ages 2-3) — Introduce the pleasure of books to your child! Join us for stories and songs on bedtime on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 10 a.m.
   • Rhyme Time – (ages newborn to 2) — Build brainpower! Join us for 20 minutes of nursery rhyme fun. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 10:30 a.m.
   • Early Reader Book Club (grades K-2) — An exciting program for brand-new readers will be held Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 4 p.m.
   • Preschool Book Club (ages 3-5) — We read books and share book-related activities. Wednesday, Feb. 29, at 10 a.m.
   • Singing Babies (newborn to 24 months) — Friday, March 2, at 10 a.m.Start your little one on the road to a lifetime love of music-making.
   • Robodyssey — Robodyssey Systems will provide robots to use and teach you how to program a robot using Microsoft Visual Basic. The final challenge will be a robot competition. Saturday, March 3, at 10 a.m. for grades 4-6, and 1:30 for grades 7-12 is at 1:30 p.m.
   The Homework Help Center for grades 5-8 is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4-6 p.m.; Tuesday 4-6 and 6:30-8:30 p.m.
